Dear MaryLou, I just learned of Cousin Jay's passing. I had tried to contact Jay in the past but never had a response to my emails. Last month I reached out to the South Bend Osthimers to get a contact email for him, and received this obituary today. I send you my sincere sympathies and, in retrospect, wish I had been more diligent in reaching out to Jay. I have many fond memories of Jay that are based on our younger days. I think Jay was the closest in age to me of all the Osthimer Cousins--I did not know he had a sister. I especially remember a summertime visit to Wabash when I was about 17 and spent a lot of of time with Jay--he'd have been about 21--and he introduced me to the Jazz of Gerry Mulligan, Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck and others. I still listen to them all the time through Spotify. I guess I am the last one of our generation of Osthimer cousins. I wish you and your family all the very best and am sorry for your loss. Fondly, Chuck Osthimer
