Mr. Jay "Frank" Mead's Obituary
Mr. Jay “Frank” Mead, age 77, passed away Tuesday afternoon, November 26, 2013. He was born February 11, 1936 in Kalamazoo, MI to Jay L. and Gertrude (Tyler) Mead. Mr. Mead worked for Muskegon Piston Ring for 30 years and for Carter Manufacturing for 20 years before retiring in 2012. He enjoyed music, playing guitar, gardening, building homes, and working with his hands. SURVIVORS include 6 children, Joseph (Karen) Mead of Nunica, Judy (William) Mead-Schaub of Fruitport, Jay A. (Karen) Mead of Muskegon, Janet (Brian) Ashcraft of Grand Haven, Jeff Mead of Muskegon, Jack (Sylvia) Mead of Fruitport; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clifford Mead of Richmond, KY, Barry Mead of New York; and 2 half-brothers, Bill and Dan Coon of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandson, Clayton Mead; and 3 sisters, Irene Wickham, Elaine Wayman, and Dorothy Segers. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 3:00 PM Monday, December 2, 2013 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100,with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Fruitport Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Hospice of North Ottawa will be appreciated.
