Jayla J. Beckwith's Obituary
Jayla Jane Beckwith, age 12, beloved daughter, granddaughter, and niece, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning as a result of an automobile accident, along with her mother, Martha Beckwith, age 47, November 8, 2022. She was born September 23, 2010 in Shelby, MI to Jay and Martha (Gentz) Beckwith. Jayla was a 5th grade student at Oakridge Public Schools. She belonged to the Boys and Girls Club as well as the Girl Scouts. She loved to skateboard, go fishing, loved the outdoors, and was always active and barefoot. Jayla really loved to hang with grandpa, Dennis, and ride his four wheeler and drive his tractor, and sit with him while he was deer hunting. Oh yeah, she really loved his chili as well. Jayla will be greatly missed by many including her half sister, Betty Drake of Muskegon; grandpa, Dennis Gentz of Ravenna; aunts and uncles: Karen (Mitchell) Taylor of Ravenna, Brenda (Michael) Kambach of Minnesota, Nancy (Chuck) Hogarth of Florida, and Jeff (Cindy) Beckwith of Muskegon; cousins, Lily, Alexander, and Nathaniel Kalmbach, Jared and Allison Beckwith. Jayla was also preceded in death by her father, Jay M. Beckwith; grandmother, Sharon Gentz; and grandparents: JR and Jane Beckwith. A MEMORIAL LUNCHEON for Jayla and Martha will be held 3:00 PM Monday, November 14, 2022 at the Moorland Township Hall (12416 Apple Ave., Ravenna, MI 49451). They will be laid to rest in Ravenna Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Martha and Jayla Memorial Fund will be appreciated .
