Jean Castner's Obituary
Mrs. Jean Castner, age 78, of Whitehall passed away Friday, February 24, 2023 at Trinity Hospital. She was born December 28, 1944, in Beedeville, Arkansas to Lester “Leon” and Ruth (Bynum) Rodgers. On June 6, 1988, she married Donald Castner in Whitehall MI.
Jean worked for Herman Miller for over 33 years. She enjoyed going to yard sales and could not pass up a bargain! If the item wasn’t a bargain when she arrived, it was by the time she left as she would always negotiate a lower price. She loved country music and line dancing. Coast Guard Festival was a must every year (every day and every concert rain or shine) and she went the last 10 years with her sister-in-law Paula Rodgers.
Most of all she loved her family. She never missed a birthday celebration, 4th of July party or Christmas. She was very proud of her family and made sure that everyone knew about each milestone that her grandkids accomplished.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Donald; three daughters: Paula (Bill) Beck, Yvette (Sean) Fifield, and Colleen (John) Jazdzyk; six grandchildren: Amanda, Katie (Chip), Amy (Paul), Trevor (Brittany), Makayla, and Evin; seven great-grandchildren; siblings: Lee, Charlie, Mary, and Boyce and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Ruth; siblings, Opal, Jim and Ruth.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 3, 2023, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services with Rev. Douglas VanderMolen officiating. Visitation will take place following the service during the luncheon. Interment will take place in Robinson Twp. Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Jean may be given to the American Cancer Society. Please sign the family’s online guestbook at http://www.sytsemafh.com.
