Jean Doris Ewald's Obituary
Jean Doris Ewald, age 93, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at her home. She was born October 22, 1931 in Muskegon to Nelson L. and Ila G. (Goodenrath) Graham and was a lifelong resident of the area. On October 29, 1960, she married Frederick O. Ewald in Muskegon and preceded her in death on March 2, 1996. Jean worked as a machine operator for 14 years at Sealed Power Corp and later as a switch board operator for Geer Press Ringer for 12 years and retired in 1991. She was a longtime member of Hope Reformed Church. She was also very active with the VFW #8846 and had served as past president of VFW District 12. She was also a member of the T-Patchers, the American Legion and the Disable American Veterans. Jean was a past member of the Melodiers Singers and enjoyed singing the National Anthem for the events in District 12. Jean loved swimming and fishing and always helping her kids and grandkids. Survivors include her 2 daughters, Susan M. (Robert Jowers) Jowers-McConaughy, Janis I. Collins; 4 grandchildren, Aaron (Rachel) McConaughy, Lena (Alair) Borba, Alex (Ashley) Collins, Courtney Collins; 4 great grandchildren, Mason and Emmett McConaughy, Brody and Brooks Collins and 1 on the way in August. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Ewald; her parents; and 3 brothers, Roy, Lyle and Ralph Graham. A Funeral Service will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Hope Reformed Church, 1878 Evanston Ave, Muskegon, MI 49442, with Pastor Steve Hyma officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Hope Reformed Church.
