Jean M. Foster Berry's Obituary
Jean Marie Foster Berry, age 95, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Sunday, July 16, 2023. Jean was born on November 29, 1927, in Meadville, PA, to Sidney and Florence (Wermeling) Foster. In June of 1950 she married Earle Berry, and they spent 49 wonderful years together until he preceded her in death in 1999. Jean enjoyed gardening, both at her home and also as a volunteer at Frederick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, MI. Jean loved to travel, visiting Europe many times and more recently spending many winters in Port Richey, FL. Jean loved to keep busy; in her younger years she enjoyed playing tennis, sailing with her family, and watching her children play sports, but more recently she liked reading and word games. She was an excellent cook and baker, and she loved spending time with her family. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her second husband of 21 years, Clayton Hill; two children: Douglas (Kristine) Berry and Linda (Matthew) Maycroft; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three stepchildren: Denny (Diane) Hill, Lori (Bill) Hyde, and Tammi Mayfield; many step-grandchildren; two daughters in-law: Mary Berry and Barbara Berry; and some nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Florence Foster; first husband, Earle Berry; two sons: David Berry and Donald Berry; and two sisters: Louise Hunter and Rita Foster. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be taking place for Jean at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442.
