Jean Gutierrez's Obituary
Jean Gutierrez of Franklin, North Carolina and formerly of Grand Haven, Michigan unexpectedly passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at her home in Franklin, North Carolina, surrounded by her family. She was 84 years old. Jean was born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England and was the second to the youngest child of Ivy May and Harry Lindley. She met her husband, Ed, in England when he was stationed there during his service with the United States Air Force. They married on November 13, 1954, and moved to the United States when Jean was 18 years old; they lived in California, Chicago, Champaign—Urbana, IL, Grand Haven MI and Franklin NC. Jean was a homemaker and worked for many years at Christian Haven Home. She loved antiques and estate sales. Her favorite books to read were cookbooks and even though she never made any of the recipes, she liked to read them out loud to anyone who would listen. Jean loved her friends and family. The best times ever were those moments when everyone could get together around the dinner table. Jean is survived by her brother Clem Lindley and her sister Brenda Garbutt, in Great Britain, her children, Ivy M Madsen of Franklin NC, Sharmaine Gutierrez (John) of Grand Haven MI, Donna Viveen of Franklin NC, Mark Gutierrez (Anivette) of Alamogordo NM, Denise Bussing (Randy) of Muskegon MI and Michael Gutierrez (Teresa) of Allegan MI. Her grandchildren include David (Stephanie) DeHaan, Evan (Orlando) Torres, Kellan (Forrest) Morton, Owen Viveen (Ronni), Michelle (David) Kurz, Ryan Gutierrez, Eddie Bussing (Sarah), Kyle Bussing (Keri) and Anthony Bussing, CodiBrianne and Michael Gutierrez, numerous great grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews, both in the United States and abroad. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ed and her daughter Andrea, grandson Harry Bussing, her parents, and three sisters and son-in-law Gary J. Madsen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Norman Droski as celebrant. Interment will be in Lake Forest cemetery. Services are entrusted to The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417.
