Jean E. Van Kammen's Obituary
Jean Elizabeth Van Kammen, the former Jean Elizabeth Rolfe, 88, passed away peacefully in Grand Haven, MI on Nov 18, 2022. She was born on December 16, 1933 to Kenneth and Iola Rolfe. She is survived by her brother, Richard “Dick” Rolfe; 3 children, David Van Kammen, Craig Van Kammen, and Susan Carlson; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 nephew. Jean was predeceased by her parents, 1 grandson, 1 great grandson, and 1 niece. She had a great love of music. She took piano lessons for 12 years and received a certificate to teach piano from Sherwood Music School in Chicago. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing and master’s degree in elementary education from Western Michigan University. Jean is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Spring Lake Ward. Her steadfast faith in Jesus guided her throughout her life. She has a sure knowledge of God, the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. She lived a life of service to her family and friends, as well as visited the homebound and needy. She knitted hundreds of hats and scarves that she donated to local churches, homeless shelters, and schools. She was an inspiration to many and will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends. We are thankful for the many years she shared her life and love with us. Please join us in celebrating her life. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, November 26 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 18975 168th St., Spring Lake, 49456. Visitation will be held Friday, November 25 from 6:00-8:00PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, 49444 and one hour prior to the service at church. To respect the holiday family time, Jean’s family has chosen to forgo a luncheon following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, Jean requested that donations be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ missionary fund.
