Jeanette Bulthuis' Obituary
Mrs. Jeanette Bulthuis, age 99, of Spring Lake passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Robbinswood Assisted Living Community. She was born January 26, 1924, in Chicago to Richard and Jesse (Buikema) DeMaa. On November 1, 1946, she married Abel “Abe” Bulthuis in Illinois, and he preceded her in death on November 7, 2007.
Jeanette was a resident of the Tri-Cities for over 50 years and was a member of the Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church. She was a bookkeeper for the family businesses Grand Garbage, Haven Garbage and Grand Valley Sani-Serv. She enjoyed being active in her church, bowling, golfing, fishing, playing cards, but her favorite was watching her granddaughters play sports. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan but spending time with her family was a constant joy to her.
She is survived by her son, Tim (Sarah) Bulthuis of Nunica; grandchildren: Betsy (Jordan) Drake, Cassidy (Stephen) Hazekamp, Gabriel Kurtz, Tamara Lazak; great-grandchildren: Harper and Emerson Hazekamp, and Norah Drake; sister, Gertrude VanRyn; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Kathleen Polanek and Karen J. Kurtz; her son-in-law, Neal Polanek; grandson, Tony Polanek, granddaughter, Jeanette (Jenny) Polanek; brothers, William DeMaa, Martin DeMaa; and sister, Jennie Pruim.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff and aides at Robbinswood Assisted Living Community for their kind and professional care in taking care of Jeanette during her stay at Robbinswood.
A funeral service will be 12:00 PM Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church with Rev. James VanderMeiden officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions in memory of Jeanette may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
