Jeanette J. Wahr's Obituary
Jeanette J. Wahr, age 78, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at home. She was born on August 20, 1947 in Muskegon, and resided in the area all of her life. Jeanette was the proud owner and operator of Jeanette’s Plain and Fancy Tailoring for many years in the Muskegon area. After earning her Master’s Degree in Apparel and Textiles from Western Michigan University, she used her skills in many ways and for a variety of organizations. She later became the costume designer for the Muskegon Community College theatre program, where she started working in 1993 until her retirement in 2013.
Jeanette and her husband Chuck loved attending Renaissance Festivals, where she found inspiration for her costume designs and future creations. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, was a passionate gardener who enjoyed canning the vegetables she grew, and a talented belly dancer who performed and taught dance throughout the area for more than 15 years.
On October 8, 1965 she married Charles J. Wahr and he preceded her in death on May 24, 2023 after 58 years of marriage. Jeanette was also preceded in death by her parents, John and Jeanette Vos.
SURVIVORS include three children, Charlotte (Michael) Gabriel, Charles (Danelle) Wahr, Jr. and John Wahr; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; five sisters, Ruth Vos, Bridgett Brewer, Linda Vos and Becky Goldstein, Linda Pyrek, brother, Ted Brown, and her yorkie Sadie.
MEMORIAL SERVICES for Jeanette will be celebrated 3PM Thursday, November 20, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100). VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service, from 2-3PM. Memorial Contributions in Jeanette’s name to Hospice of Michigan will be appreciated.
