Jean Marie (Kruszka) Baker's Obituary
Mrs. Jean Marie (Kruszka) Baker, age 76, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at her home surrounded by her loving husband and daughters. She was born August 20, 1934 in Chicago, IL and was raised on a dairy farm in Holton, MI by her adoring mother, Thecla Kruszka, and her uncle, August Truschke. On May 6, 1961, she married Wayne A. Baker in Brunswick, MI. They made their home and raised their daughters in Muskegon, MI. Jean worked 25 years as a beautician and retired in 1994 from Vertie’s Beauty Salon. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also volunteered at the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army and the Frauenthal Center for the Performing Arts. She was a member of the Vikings Lodge. She enjoyed reading, traveling, dancing with her husband to big band music, spending time with her friends, visiting her daughters and playing with her grandchildren. Jean loved all animals and especially enjoyed spoiling her dogs, Hannah, Cody and Zoe and reminiscing about her childhood Welsh pony, Pet. SURVIVORS include her husband, Wayne; 2 daughters, Lisa A. (Charles) Guild and Jennifer A. (Henry) Baker both of Chicago, IL; and 2 grandchildren, Liam Connor Shepherd Guild and Ysabel Marie Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in Marian Chapel at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at Holton Township Cemetery. VISITATION with Jean’s family will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday (today) at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., (231) 759-8565. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday at church.
