Jeanne Smith Moffett's Obituary
Jeanne Smith Moffett passed away on May 23, 2013. She was born on April 17, 1921 to Walter M. Smith and his wife, Amelia, in Exeter, California. She attended Exeter Union High School and University of California at Berkeley, where she received her BA degree in Liberal Arts. Together with her beloved husband, James H. Moffett Jr, they raised three children in El Cerrito, CA and later in Santa Ana, CA.
She was honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards for her dedicated service to the California PTA and the Girl Scouts of America. In her later years, she was an active volunteer at the United Nations shop in Orange, CA.
She is survived by her 3 children, Cathy Altuvilla of Valencia, CA, Nancy (and Rick) Peters of Muskegon, MI, and James (and Becky) Moffett III of Fairfax, Virginia, along with nine grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren, who all had the joy of sharing many wonderful times with their Grandma Jeanne.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Exeter, CA, where she will be interred alongside her husband who passed away in 1995. Those wishing to make a donation can consider the Father Jack Foundation (525 South Lake St. Whitehall, MI 49461).
