Jeanne M. Varnes' Obituary
Jeanne M. Varnes, age 77, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020. She was born February 1, 1943 in Cleveland, OH to William and Lillian (Bouhall) Powe. Jeanne was a 1961 graduate of Magnificat High School in Rocky River, OH and on September 25, 1965, she married Larrie F. Varnes in Lakewood, OH and moved to the Muskegon area in 1987. Jeanne was an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, exercising and aerobics, and was an excellent cook, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. SURVIVORS include her husband, Larrie; 3 children: Jennifer Sutton of Charleston, South Carolina, Gretchen (Brian) Kucks of Spring Lake, and Kevin (Kenya) Varnes of Kentwood; 5 grandchildren: Emily, Andrew, Nicholas, Lauren, and Michael; 2 brothers: James (Beth) Powe and Tom Powe; sister, Mary Ann Carroll; and several nieces and nephews. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Scott Sutton; and a nephew, Jeffrey Powe. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 24, 2020 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Godfrey Onyekwere presiding. VISITATION (limited to 10 people at a time in the building) with the family will be from 6-8 PM Thursday, July 23, 2020 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 (231) 726-5210.
