Jeffrey Lange Brown's Obituary
Jeffrey Lange Brown, age 57, passed away comfortably on Thursday, May 16, 2024, with his family by his side. After a grueling 6-month battle against complications following his esophagectomy due to esophageal cancer, he is now at rest and no longer suffering. He is thought about every day and missed more than words can say.
Jeff was born April 15, 1967, in Muskegon, MI to James and Marlene (Geeting) Brown. He attended school in Whitehall, MI and graduated in 1985. Jeff went on to serve his country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force for 9 years. After separating from the military, Jeff continued following his passion and excelled at being a heavy machinery/diesel mechanic.
Jeff had many hobbies that kept him busy throughout his life. He was an avid rider of anything with a motor, whether it was his Harleys, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, cars or trucks, he loved it. He enjoyed riding his Harleys along Lake Michigan while watching the sunset, playing cribbage, poker, chess, pool, darts, bowling, fishing, concerts, firing off cannons, and floating down the river. However, the thing he loved most was his family.
Jeff is survived by his two children, Jordan (Tara Reed) Brown, and Lindey (Dane) Rogge; his significant other of 13 years, Tammy Manhart; Tammy’s children, Jeff’s bonus children, Justin (Julia) Manhart, Jessica Manhart, Jared Manhart, Wayne (Ashleigh) Scharphorn, and Caydon Scharphorn; grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Papa,” Kaitlyn Brown, Konnor Hess, Ryleigh Brown, Finn Brown, Lily Rogge, Orion Manhart, Wyatt Bellmer, Madison Bellmer, Kamora Manhart, Madison Scharphorn, and Chance Scharphorn. Jeff is also survived by his mother, Marlene (Dennis) Wilder; sister, Marissa (Don) Milligan; along with two nephews and a niece, Alec (Brittany) Roberts, Shane Roberts, and Marlee Milligan; a stepbrother and stepsisters, and former wife/mother of his children, Stephanie DeCair Brown.
The family will have a Celebration of Life August 11, 2024, from 1PM-5PM at the White Lake VFW Post 3265 (9370 Walsh Rd., Montague, MI 49437). In lieu of flowers for the family, please consider donating to the family’s GoFundMe, to help defray funeral expenses. Arrangements are entrusted to The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (737 E. Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442).
