Jeffrey Robert Oberlin's Obituary
Jeffrey Robert Oberlin, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 2nd. Jeff grew up in Fruitport and graduated from Fruitport High School in 1986. After high school, he went to Western Michigan University where he graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Jeff and Dionne, his wife of 32 years, met just after college and knew immediately they were meant to be together. After living for some time in Kalamazoo, they came back to Fruitport where Jeff and Dionne built their home and family. He was most proud of their beautiful family, whom he loved dearly. Jeff was an accomplished and well-respected businessman. He looked forward to soon retiring from Pacific Floor Care. All who knew and loved him knew he was beyond smart; he could do, fix, build, and solve anything. Jeff was an avid hobbyist…he loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting, boating, woodworking, taking care of the house and his property up north, or rebuilding cars; he could do it all. He even built an amazing tiny house from scratch and used it to hunt up north with his best buddy Jon Gale. But the title Jeff loved most was “Papa”. His children and grandchildren were the light of his eyes. Along with his wife Dionne, Jeff is survived by his kids and grandkids: daughter Kenna (Vaughan), her husband Collin, and their daughter Emersyn Marie, and daughter Kylie and her son Maverik Ray. Jeff was an amazing role model to Kenna and Kylie. He was a teacher of many life lessons – many that they will carry on with them. Jeff was Kenna’s go-to for most questions; there wasn’t a problem he couldn’t solve. He and Collin loved to talk about investing, and Collin looked up to him in many ways. He shared his love for hunting with Kylie. Jeff loved to take Mav on tractor rides, show him deer pictures, and Mav loved to help Papa work outside. Jeff is also survived by his parents, Kim and Wendy Oberlin, his sisters Tammy (Todd) Bramer and Laurie (Rich) Mullennix, and brother David (Stephanie) Oberlin, along with countless family and friends. He spent lots of time with his dad hunting, fishing, or talking about anything outdoors. Jeff will be remembered as an amazing Husband, Dad, Papa, Son, Brother and Friend; the best provider and protector who loved his family beyond measure. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. VISITATION will be Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 02:00 PM – 03:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St. Muskegon, MI 49444.
