Mr. Jerrold Widing's Obituary
Mr. Jerrold Widing, age 79, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 11, 2012 at his home in Montague. He was born in Muskegon Heights on January 14, 1933 to Raymond and Vera (Callesen) Widing. After graduating from Muskegon Heights High School, Jerry attended Muskegon Junior College and then Michigan State University where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was hired by Lockheed-Martin right out of college and moved to Northridge, CA. Jerry was employed by Lockheed-Martin as a Structural Engineer for 45 years before retiring. In 2000 he moved back to Michigan, settling in Montague. He was a member of the Mona Lake Boat Club, was a collector of G Scale Trains, and loved his 1931 Ford Model A Huckster. Jerry was very outgoing and was always looking to make a new friend. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews as “Greatest Uncle Jerry”. On August 16, 1952, Jerry married his wife of 59 years, the former Shirley Rudd, and she survives him along with 2 sons, David (Lori) Widing of Oxnard, CA and Douglas (Mary Jo) Widing of Dallas, GA; 5 grandchildren, Dawn, Jason, Chris, Stephen, Tim; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Bob (Marie) Widing of Peoria, AZ; 1 sister, Beverly (Ben) Herlein of Santa Barbara, CA; 1 sister-in-law, Carol Kimble of Muskegon and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Bill Widing. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11:00 AM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. Mark R. Erbes officiating.
