Jerry A. Barnes' Obituary
Mr. Jerry A. Barnes, 63, passed away Wednesday, March 2, in Whitehall. He was born September 9, 1952 to James C. and Edith (Revelle) Barnes, Sr. in Muskegon, and lived the past 38 years in Whitehall. Jerry worked at Sealed Power for 32 years before retiring in 2008. He was a member of The Journey :Northside, and enjoyed antique cars and motorcycles. On May 27, 1972 he married Valerie Klopp, and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Amy (Jay Taylor) Barnes-Trusty of Whitehall, Tiffany (Mike) Remkes of Manistee; 3 granddaughters, Katie Trusty, Lauren Barnes and Layla Remkes; 2 brothers, Thomas R. (Sandy) Barnes, Ronny (Barbara) Barnes; and 1 brother-in-law, Bill VanderSlute; and 1 sister-in-law, Bethanne Klopp. Jerry was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Elsie (Allen) Peterson, Hazel VanderSlute, Mary Earnestine-White; 3 brothers, James Barnes Jr., twin brother Gary F. Barnes, and Kenneth (Christine) Barnes. The funeral service for Jerry will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, March 7, at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, with Pastor Lowell Wood officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the spring at Oakhurst Cemetery in Whitehall.
