Jerry D. Hanson's Obituary
Mr. Jerry Hanson, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at his home. He was born on September 2, 1934 to Douglas and Pearl (Johnson) Hanson in Grand Rapids, MN. Jerry met his first wife, the former Mary Hill in Michigan while in the United States Army. They were married in 1955 in Minnesota and had four children together. Mary preceded Jerry in death in 1989. Jerry lived a very purposeful life. He was known for his determined, ambitious and driven personality. He was able to clearly envision his dreams and ideas and did whatever it took to make them reality. One of those dreams was working for himself, which he accomplished in 1982 when he opened his first business with the help and support of his family in Fruitport. Jerry continued to be active in the business in the past few years. Jerry’s hardworking nature created a strong and positive role models for his children and grandchildren. Jerry liked to stay busy fishing, whittling, and spending time outdoors in his yard. In 1991, he married his second wife, Marcia Hanson and she survives him along with his children, Kris (David) Zuhl, Teresa (John) Zaagman, Scott (Julie) Hanson and Susan (Art) Hanson; stepdaughter, Annette (Ben) Bringedahl; grandchildren, Alex, Jack and Caroline Zuhl, Samuel and Katelyn Zaagman, and Sawyer and Casey Hanson; step-grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon and Jordan Bringedahl; sister, Sally Schwartz; and many nieces and nephews. Along with Mary, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Gene Hanson and Jack Hanson. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 11AM-2PM at Industrial Assemblies, 3130 Farr Rd., Fruitport, 49515. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Harbor Hospice Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 49444, 231-798-1100.
