Jerry Lee Hopma's Obituary
Mr. Jerry Lee Hopma, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in Muskegon, Michigan. He was born in Muskegon on March 24, 1941 to Otto and Grayce (Vriesman) Hopma Sr. Jerry graduated from Muskegon High School, class of 1959, and remained a loyal Big Reds fan. For many years, he was employed as an Executive with Dana Printing Company. Jerry was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed watching Nascar, Detroit Red Wings hockey, and was an avid tennis player in his younger years. He also valued his daily and weekly coffee gatherings with his many friends. For more than two decades, his primary passion was being a crew member and fuel specialist for Stehouwer Motorsports. On August 19, 1978, Jerry married the former Carol J. Bogner in Muskegon and she survives him along with three daughters, Suzanne (Nathan) Kline, Rebecca (Jack) Mueller, and Tracey Cleveland (Jason Prindable); step-daughters, Lisa Powell and Lora Duram; ten grandchildren, Evan (Michelle) Kline, Anna (Chad) Brantley, Allison (Christian Wayne) Kline, Alex Kline, Tripp (Jordan) Mueller, Erik (Tricia) Mueller, Bradey Cleveland, Jerret Cleveland, Andy Duram, and Morgan Duram Suarez, eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Byron (Johanna) Hopma and Otto (Brenda) Hopma Jr.; and two sisters, Paula (James) Seastrom and Renee (Adam) Mountain. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-son-in-law, Mark Duram; and granddaughter, Mya Duram. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 23, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. VISITATION will be one hour prior to his service. Burial will be in McCumber Cemetery.
