Mr. Jerry Joseph Israels' Obituary
Jerry Joseph Israels, age 74, of Grand Haven, underwent his last journey on November 23, 2016 at 3:30 pm after a gallant and graceful battle with Parkinson’s disease, surrounded by the love and support of his wife, Joyce Israels, and family.
Jerry was born May 31, 1942 in Holland, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. (Esther) Joseph Israels; and sister and brother-in-law, Pamela and David Hoedema. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Eileen Israels; their six children, Michael (Tammie) Israels, Christine (Kenneth) Bierema, Anthony Israels, Erin (Bryan) Earvin, Adam (Kara) Zalsman and Brianne (Burton) Taylor; five grandchildren, Jared Israels, Avery Taylor, Reid Taylor, Jada Zalsman and Lauryn Earvin. Jerry also leaves his siblings; Richard (Cora) Israels, Jan (Richard) DeZeuuw, and Robert (Norma) Israels.
Jerry taught for Holland Public Schools (30 years of service) and was a licensed contractor. He was an avid sportsman; windsurfer, fisher, golfer, hockey player, skier and sailor. Jerry and Joyce are members of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes Church in Grand Haven.
A memorial service for immediate family will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation or the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holland. Arrangements by Sytsema Funeral Homes, The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, 231-798-1100.
