Rev. Jerry L. Snyder's Obituary
Rev. Jerry L. Snyder, age 68, of Grand Haven, formerly of North Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, October 8, 2018, at Medilodge at the Shore. He was born March 4, 1950, in Grand Haven to John H. and Rosemary (Parmelee) Snyder. Jerry graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1969 and then attended Grand Valley State University, receiving his undergraduate degree in History in 1973 while working for the First Presbyterian Church. He then went on to receive his postgraduate degree from Princeton Seminary in 1988. Jerry was ordained on May 20, 1990, and became the associate pastor at the John Knox Presbyterian Church in North Canton, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Scott Snyder and his identical twin brother Jim Snyder. Jerry is lovingly remembered by his two sisters, Nancy (Dave) DeWeerd of Plainwell, MI and Joni Ferriera of Redding, CA; and Jim’s wife, Nikki Snyder of Grand Haven.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Michigan, and the entire staff and caregivers at Medilodge at the Shore for the care and compassion given to Jerry during the last three years. Jerry affected so many lives and all for the good. He was loved by all his family, friends, and church family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
