Jerry was a keepsake of a man! His humor and his hearty laugh would make everyone chuckle. His eyes always sparkled when he would break out in laughter. We came to know him so well when we had the Carousel Donut Shop. He made it his daily stop and we so enjoyed his time there. As I walked into Jerry's visitation last night I had to smile through my tears. A sea of Jerry's family and friends,what a bunch of characters! Jerry loved a wide variety of people. He had the wonderful gift of making all of us feel good about who we are and what we do. He made us feel a part of his family even if we were not. From this day forward I will always think of Jerry and his family whenever a nickname is uttered. I am sure that many of you have these pet names. Buck,Bing,Maude,Roni,Bo are the best ones. We had a name for Jerry at our house. He was given this name by my son when he was little, attending a work meeting with me. Jerry was speaking to us in that gruff but friendly manner, with authority but never leaving out respect way he had about him. My son sat and listened to him with his mouth agape. After the meeting Jake pulled on my shirt and was so excited to ask me why I never told him that I worked with the president. To this day I am not sure why Jake thought Jerry was President Clinton. It could have been Jerrys looks or it could have been his cigar. I am betting on the cigar! So with my nickname from Jerry held close to my heart the last thing I wanted to say is "hey President it's me Waitress I love you ,I miss you and I will never forget you.
