Mr. Jerry L. Wiersma, Sr. age 76, passed away at his home Friday morning, March 13, 2009, following a 9 year battle with Cancer. For many years Jerry was in charge of the annual Jaycees “Exhausted Rooster Stag.” Jerry started serving the City of Norton Shores on its Zoning Board and Planning Commission before he began his 18 year tenure on the Norton Shores City Council. He has served Norton Shores as its Mayor since 2005. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed volunteering, cars, planes and Jazz Music. On October 8, 1955, he married the former Lois Ann Kuziak and became her loving caregiver the past 10 years after she was stricken with rheumatoid arthritis and a debilitating stroke.
