Jerry Wayne Heaton's Obituary
Mr. Jerry Wayne Heaton, age 77, passed away early Sunday morning, November 8, 2009 at a local hospital. Jerry was born May 24, 1932 to Wesley I. and Blanche (Wolfe) Heaton in Bad Axe, MI. Jerry served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He had worked at Sappi Fine Paper for 42 years, prior to his retirement in 1993. On August 27, 1960 Jerry married the former Ruth Ann Malsberry in Muskegon. Throughout his life Jerry was active in many sports, but he was most passionate about his golfing. He was the founder of the Benonia Shores Senior Golf Outing. Jerry was also a member of the Polish Falcon Club and the Lakeside Eagles. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth Ann; 2 daughters, Judith ‘Judy’ (Michael) Shafer and Barbara (Jeffrey) Kirschner all of Muskegon; 3 grandchildren, Michelle Shafer, Samantha Kirschner, and Hanna Kirschner; 1 sister, Norma Hurst of Ohio; life long friend, John Bloomstrom; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward; and 2 sisters, Margaret Strome and Georgine Crosby. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, November 13, 2009 at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Avenue 213-726-5210 with Rev. John Brown officiating and Military Rites afforded under the auspices of Great Lakes Naval Honor Guard. VISITATION will be Thursday from 6-8 PM.
