Jesse M. Barrera Sr.'s Obituary
Jesse M. Barrera, Sr, age 77, passed away on August 31, 2019. Born in Hart, MI, he was the son of the late Ramon Barrera and Martha (Aleman) Barrera. Jesse was a veteran of the US Navy and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a lifetime resident of Muskegon and graduated from Muskegon High School. Jesse worked at CWC Foundry and was the Union Steward for many years. He enjoyed fishing, Michigan Football, western movies and many different types of music. He also coached baseball for Muskegon West Little League and football for the Mona Shores Boys Club and Lakeside Football programs for many years. Jesse is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jacqueline "Jackie" (Dolliver) Barrera, his children Ann (Brian) Beardsley, Jesse Barrera Jr., Raymond Barrera, his 3 sisters, Mary Link, Annette (William Jr.) Jacobsen, and Martha (John) Plichta; 7 grandchildren, David Jr., Brittany, Samantha, Shawn, Cheyenne, Autumn, and Olivia and 5 great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Amya, Nicolas, Anthoney, and Cannon. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Delores Davis. Jesse was a devoted father and friend. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Harbor Hospice for their compassionate care of Jesse and his family. A MEMORIAL SERVICE with Military Rites will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI., 49442, 231-726-5210.
