Jessie Mae Bayle's Obituary
Jessie Mae (Dickey) Bayle, passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025. Jessie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marshall and their eldest son, Richard. Jessie was born a sharecropper’s daughter in Bronson, TX on September 29, 1921. A hard life was made even harder by the death of her mother when Jessie was 21. World War II took her brothers away to serve, but basic training brought Marshall to Texas where they met and fell in love. When Marshall returned home after a four-year tour of duty in Europe, Jessie took the train to Michigan and became his wife on June 8, 1946.
They raised three children in an old farmhouse in Ravenna, Michigan. Jessie was a stay-at-home mom when the children were younger. After learning how to drive at age 45, she found work, first as a bookkeeper at John Thompson’s Store. Later, she worked as a kitchen helper at Child Evangelism Fellowship and also at Muskegon Community College. After Jessie retired, she volunteered at Hackley Hospital, Tanglewood Senior Center and Calvary Baptist Church. Church was always at the center of the Bayle family’s life. Trinity Baptist Church in Fruitport filled this need in her final years when she was able to attend. Jessie believed in Jesus Christ, and her greatest desire was for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to be followers of Christ.
Marshall died in May of 1994 and Jessie endured 31 years without her best friend. Those years were made bearable by the love of her children, Richard (Michele) Bayle, Debra (Bruce) Anderson and Dennis (Lori) Bayle; her grandchildren, Jason Bayle, Shalane Bayle, Britta (Paul) Rignell, Nicole Bayle, Nate Anderson, Lindsey Hardley and Cody (Sarah) Bayle; and her great-grandchildren, Marshall Hardley, Linus Rignell, Hudson Hardley, Cayden Bayle, Elsie Hardley and Owen Bayle.
In her later years, Jessie longed to join Marshall in Heaven. God’s plan was for her to live to be 103. Her family finds peace and comfort in the confidence that Jessie and Marshall are together again for all eternity. To God be the glory!
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Trinity Baptist Church, 4381 S. Sheridan Dr., Muskegon, MI 49444 with a visitation one-hour prior.
