J. Kevin Foley's Obituary
Mr. J. Kevin Foley, age 59, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 5, 2009. He was born on January 4, 1950 to John and Florence (Black) Foley in Chicago, IL and resided in the West Michigan area for the past 56 years. Kevin graduated from Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School, and went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from Western Michigan University. He was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, and attended Forest Park Covenant Church. Kevin was Vice President of Fifth Third Bank Public Funds Department (formerly Old Kent) for the past 35 years. He had been a member of the Rotary Club since 1986, Past Chairman of the United Way, involved in the Norton Shores City Council and Planning Commission, and former member of AMBUCS, where he had won “Mr. AMBUCS” of the year award. He was also past Band Parent President of the Mona Shores Band. Kevin loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer, member of the Muskegon Country Club, and Notre Dame Football fan. On September 4, 1971 he married the former Linda VanderMolen and together they celebrated 37 years of marriage. He is also survived by 3 children, Erin (Dan) Quaine and their daughters, Mallory and Lucy of Norton Shores, Kevin C. (Carla Marietti) Foley of Muskegon, Jill (fiancé, Brandon Carroll) Foley of Muskegon; sisters, Lynne (Tom) Popiel of Grand Rapids, Mary (Jack) Tobie of Overland Park, Kansas, and Maureen Foley of Grand Rapids; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Roger) Danielson of Jenison, Mary (Don) DeVlieger of Lowell, Gerry (Allen) Yonker of Alto and Sharon (Jack) Wabeke of Hudsonville. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Foley; sister, Patricia Maxim; and in-laws, Ernie and Nellie VanderMolen. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Thursday at Forest Park Covenant Church (3815 Henry St.) with Rev. Paul Bengtson officiating. VISITATION will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey Street Norton Shores, MI 49444, 231-798-1100 and one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, please consider Every Women’s Place or Webster House Youth Services as a memorial.
