J. Lauran Krechmar's Obituary
Mr. James Lauran Kretchmar, age 80, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at home. He was born January 10, 1929 in Battle Creek, MI to Dr. Arthur and Duffield (Sturges) Kretchmar. J. Lauran grew up in Flint, MI and lived in Chicago, IL for many years, before retiring as an architect in 1988 and moving to the Muskegon area. He graduated from the Culver Military Academy, and then when on to graduate from the University of Michigan School of Architecture. J. Lauran was a member of the American Institute of Architects, and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. On April 6, 1951 he married the former Beverley Stuart Booker and she survives him along with 4 children, Stuart Randolph (Cheryl) Kretchmar of Wilmette, IL, the Rev. Lauran Pifke of Fremont, CA, Cary (Darrell) Johnson of Nashville, TN, and Michel (Greg) Schoonover of Northbrook, IL; 8 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; and brother, Richard Kretchmar of Oak Ridge, TN. J. Lauran was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Arthur and Harold Gordon Kretchmar. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 4PM Saturday, September 26, 2009 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev.
