Mrs. Joan Marie Byrne's Obituary
Mrs. Joan Marie Byrne, age 72, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014 in Muskegon. She was born in Muskegon on February 24, 1942 to Martin S. and Velma R. (Boyd) Sokolowski. Joan had worked as a medical records secretary at DeBoer Nursing Home for 9 years before retiring in 2003. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church having participated as a lector, Eucharistic distributor, collection counter, former CSA chairman, former choir member and former CCD teacher. On July 29, 1961, Joan married Jerry Lee Byrne in Ravenna, MI and he survives her along with her four brothers, Stanley M. (Jeanine) Sokolowski, Donald M. Sokolowski, Kenneth M. (Loretta) Sokolowski and Gregory M. (Cheryl) Sokolowski. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Antony Britto presiding. VISITATION will be one hour prior to her service at church and from 6-8 PM Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with the ROSARY prayed at 7:15 PM by Joan’s brother, Deacon Donald Sokolowski. Burial will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Ravenna, MI.
