Joan Klemm Harvey's Obituary
Joan Klemm Harvey (Apostle), age 81, passed away peacefully the morning of Saturday, June 14, 2025. She was born in Wilmington, Delaware on August 7, 1943, to Dr. John George Klemm Harvey MD & Elsie Anne Harvey. In 1955 the Harvey family moved to north Muskegon, Michigan. Joan graduated in 1962 from Whitehall High School, where she excelled in gymnastics. She had a love for animals and the outdoors, mostly swimming and fishing. For decades, Joan could be found at Lake Harbor Park beach. She also spent many summer days at the White Lake Yacht Club with her two children (and often their neighborhood friends). In the late 1970’s Joan was a pee-wee baseball coach for the Churchill Athletic Association (C.A.A.). In the 1980’s she was the office manager of Balbirnie-Apostle Funeral Home. She also cooked the best chili dog sauce for the State Café. She later moved on to sales, selling everything from cellular phones (the ones that were installed in your vehicle), caskets and mobile homes. Joan is also the former owner and operator of Bi-County Express, Inc. Joan always looked forward to her summer reunions with high school classmates, where she’d spend the whole day enjoying dear friends like Lois Jaekel. Joan was a member of the Greek Orthodox and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Joan is survived by her children Blandy Apostle and George Apostle and her granddaughter Tegan Apostle, her brother-in-law Morris Burrows, a niece Shannon Burrows, and her nephews, Bill Ginman, Scott Ginman, Kevin Burrows and Brian Burrows. Also, her special friends Barb and Dolly. Joan Klemm Harvey was preceded in death by her late husband George Apostle, her father, Dr. John George Klemm Harvey, mother, Elsie Anne Harvey (Davis), her two sisters Sidney Burrows (Harvey) and Janet Waterman (Harvey) and her brother Charles Harvey. No services will be held. Arrangements handled by The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442.
