Joan L. Thom's Obituary
Joan Louise Thom, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. She was born on September 11, 1933, in Manistee to Eric and Velma Gerwin (Martin) and resided in Muskegon since early childhood. On October 24, 1953, Joan married Robert Thom and was blessed to enjoy 68 wonderful years of marriage together. She was a devoted and very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Her faith in Jesus Christ was most important to her. Joan truly loved her family, and all will miss her dearly. Joan enjoyed crafts, sewing, knitting, reading, traveling, and spending time with dear friends. SURVIVORS include three children, Richard (Rhonda) Thom, Susan Johnston, and Pamela (Rick) Homan; six grandchildren, Tony (Jen) Thom, Troy (Leslie) Thom, Julie (Eric) Grinwis, Steven (Kailey) Johnston, Dustin Homan, and Corey (Karla) Homan; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Jay Ruel and Joyce Brady; brothers-in-law Carl (Mary Ann) Thom, Jack (Jean) Thom; and sister-in-law Bonnie (Ronald) Micka; along with many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Bob in 2021, son-in-law, Michael Johnston, sister, Ida Vanderstelt, and brother-in-law, Richard Ruel. MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul C. Appold officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service, from 11:00-12:00. Memorial Contributions may be made in Joan’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
