Joni has been my dearest friend for over 40 years. I have many fond memories of the years we taught at Fulton High School together with Leo. Friday night football games and gatherings after the game were some of my favorite memories with Joni.
When my precious husband died from cancer four years ago, on his 60th birthday, Joni was a constant presence and source of encouragement. I’ll never forget her loving support.
She was the consummate teacher! Her love for her students led her to develop and build relationships with them, that taught each student to love learning. Her compassion toward her many, many students reflected the love she held in her heart. Joni was alway an encouragement and inspiration to me as a fellow teacher.
Three weeks ago I had the special privilege of spending a week with Joni and Leo during the time she was in hospice care. We reminisced, laughed, cried, prayed together, read scripture and enjoyed a precious last time of togetherness in this life. We could not say goodbye, but, “See you later.” Now she is safely in the arms of Jesus. The miracle of our salvation through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross. I will love her forever.
She was a loving and loyal friend, wife and mother. My deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to Leo, Troy, Katie and Emily. You all have my love and prayers.
