Joanne VanEizenga's Obituary
Finally home, Joanne VanEizenga, age 96, of Crockery Township went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Saturday, July 21, 2007, at a local care facility. She was born February 28, 1911, to Richard and Lena (Besteman) Sterkenberg in Belgium. Joanne married John “Jack” VanEizenga on November 1, 1930, in Indiana, and he preceded her in death in 1972.
Joanne was a devoted member of Nortonville Gospel Chapel where she directed the choir for 35 years, was active in the Ladies Mission Circle, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and helped in the kitchen. She also enjoyed her grandchildren and gardening.
Survivors include her son, Jerry (Sandra) VanEizenga of Nunica; 4 grandchildren: Vickie Buckner, Jon VanEizenga, James (Angela) VanEizenga, and Vondra Pike; 2 great-grandchildren, Madison Pike and Tristin Phan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by six sisters and brothers.
A funeral service for Joanne will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Nortonville Gospel Chapel with Pastor Dennis Snyder officiating. Friends may meet the family at church Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 am. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
