JoAnne Mary Smolenski's Obituary
JoAnne Smolenski, age 54, of Grand Haven passed away after a short illness Monday, August 29, 2011. She was born April 3, 1957 in Grand Rapids to William and Mildred (Knape) Smolenski.
JoAnne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and had worked for over 36 years at the Secretary of State office in Grand Haven. She was an avid knitter who loved to shop and travel, especially going on cruises.
She is survived by her mother, Millie Smolenski of Grand Haven; sister, Susie Smolenski of Grand Haven; brothers: John (Sue) Smolenski and Tom Smolenski both of Grand Haven; nephews: Matt (Kara) Smolenski and Tim (Kellie) Smolenski; 2 great-nieces: Angel and Liv; and “her” cat, Lily. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her father, William; sister, Janet; grandparents; and many aunts and uncles.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 1, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Rev. Father Tony Vainavicz as celebrant. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven and 1 hour prior to the service at church. A vigil service will take place 7:00 PM Wednesday evening. Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Kandu Inc.
