Jody L. Eklund's Obituary
Jody L. Eklund, age 54, passed away after courageous battle with cancer on September 11, 2018. She was born on March 1, 1964 to Robert and Connie (Fongers) Cottrell in Muskegon. Jody retired from Community Mental Health in 2015 after 24 years. Jody was a member of Muskegon Country Club, Vikings Lodge and Mona Lake Boat Club. She will always be remembered as the life of the party, always smiling and being a friend to so many. On August 2, 2003 she married Wesley K. Eklund and he survives her along with 3 children, Blair (Kristina) Eklund, Erica (Wes Slayton) Eklund and Andrew (Amy) Eklund; 7 grandchildren, Samantha, Paige, Blake, Lexi, Braden, Bo and Archer; sister, Jill (Clay) Sietsema; brother, Jack (Nanette Homan) Cottrell; mother-in-law, Ann Eklund; brother-in-law, Bruce (Lynn) Eklund and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob and father-in-law, Louis Eklund Jr. Jody’s request was to not wear black to her service, she was full of life and color. CELEBRATION OF LIFE for Jody will be held 11:00AM, Sunday, September 16, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be 7PM to 9PM on Saturday, September 15 at the funeral home. MEMORIALS in Jody’s name can be directed to the Community Foundation of Muskegon County.
