Joe L. Jordan's Obituary
Mr. Joe Louis Jordan went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the age of 86. Joe was born April 14, 1936, in Columbus Mississippi to Walter Phinizee and Lela Jordan Bailey. He attended Columbus Public Schools, graduating from Hunts High School in Columbus. He married the love of his life Doris Jean Coleman on October 14, 1962, and later moved his family to Muskegon, Michigan. Joe accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He was a member of John Wesley A.M.E Zion Church where you could find him serving faithfully on the Ushers Ministry. He retired from Clarke Floor Machine but later went on to own and operate JJ Detail Shop, his own business. Joe loved his family, bowling, fishing, detailing cars, playing cards with family and most of all traveling back to his hometown Columbus, Mississippi. Joe had a kind heart and will be truly missed by his family and friends. Joe leaves to cherish his precious memories his seven children: Janice Richardson of Columbus Mississippi, Anthony (Mireya) Jordan of Edinburg, Texas, Daisy (Herbert) Williams, Lisa Jordan, Darryl (Lisa) Jordan, Jeffery Jordan, and Yolanda Jordan all of Muskegon, Michigan; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; three great- great-grandchildren; one brother, Charles (Lovie) Bailey of McDough, Georgia; three sisters: Geraldine Davis of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Barbara Gail Olds of Birmingham, Alabama, and Linda Bailey of Muskegon, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; special cousins/brothers* Mr. Robert Taylor of Chicago Heights, Illinois and Cornelius Jordan of St. Louis, Missouri; and special friends: Hank Gadson and Henry Phillips both of Muskegon, Michigan. Joe was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris J. Jordan; his parents; grandmother, Cora Jordan; daughter, Carla Renee Jordan; three brothers: Chester Jordan, Jimmie T. Jordan, and Bennie Baily Jr.; and mother-in-law, Almeadar Coleman.
