Joe H. Lewis' Obituary
Joe Henry Lewis was born November 26, 1935 in El Dorado, Arkansas to William and Beatrice Tatum (Askew) Lewis. Joe celebrated both November 26 and 27 many years due to birth certificate recording of his birthday as the 27th. His family lived in Smackover, Arkansas and later moved to Grand Haven, MI where he attended Grand Haven Public Schools. Joe and most of his family later moved to Muskegon, MI and settled. Joe was employed at Grand Haven Brass Foundry for 44 years. Joe was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father David Askew and younger brother James W. Lewis. Joe believed in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Joe was a very kind and patient man who loved to make others smile. He was modest, consistent, and a lover of sports. Joe multi-tasked daily by reading several newspapers, watching multiple sports, listening to sports on the radio, visiting Sunny Mart, Plumbs and the Dollar General, and doing his “homework.” Joe’s homework consisted of fun researching lottery picks and numbers. Joe loved to cook for his family and friends. Anyone who loved Joe knows Joe’s famous chili. On April 18, 2017 God allowed Joe to take rest. He leaves to cherish his memories wife Bobbie Jean Lewis; five children, Connie Lewis, Vicki (Anthony) Newton, Jackie D. Lewis, Kerry Lewis, and Eva M. L. (Clifford) King; ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; his brother Carl W.
