Joe Palsrok's Obituary
Mr. Joe Palsrok, age 95, died peacefully Thursday morning, April 12, 2012, in Muskegon. Today, Joe is experiencing what he often said, “I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied” (Psalm 17:15). He was born March 31, 1917 in Muskegon to Henry and Johanna (Koster) Palsrok; and had been a life resident of the area. Joe was an active, life-long member of First Christian Reformed Church and a strong supporter of Muskegon Christian Schools. He was a faithful servant to his Lord, including caring for his ill wife and widowed sisters-in-law. He continued to volunteer faithfully at both his church and Christian schools; and as time permitted, he enjoyed bowling, golfing and his passion for walking. He was employed at both Campbell, Wyant and Cannon Foundry and Sargent Machine and Specialty prior to his retirement, in 1979, as a Tool and Die Maker. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Joan Zuidema on July 7, 1991 and by 9 brothers, Dick, Ed, Gerrit, Hank, Herm, John, Pete and two brothers deceased in childhood; and by a special friend, Harriet Bush. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Rev. Dr. Russ (Sherry) Palsrok of Fremont, Vern (Darci) Palsrok of Ada and Pat (Tom) Cavanaugh of Muskegon; 8 grandchildren, Shelly (Peter) Brink, Chris (Liza) Cavanaugh, Greg (Meghan) Cavanaugh, Michael Cavanaugh, Tamara Palsrok, Robyn Geelhoed, Carin (Jess) Lilly and Ryan Palsrok and by 13 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL SERVICES for Joe will be 11AM Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at First Christian Reformed Church (1450 Catherine Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442) with his son, Rev. Dr. Russ Palsrok officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. VISITATION with Joe’s family will be 5-8PM Monday at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442 (231-726-5210). For a more lasting memorial, you are asked to consider Muskegon Christian School or Western Michigan Christian High School.
