Mr. Joel Patrick Cook's Obituary
Joel Patrick Cook, age 40, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at his residence. Joel was born March 1, 1975 in Muskegon to William and Sharon K (Holcomb) Cook. Joel was very creative, artistic, and personable; and could make friends with anyone. He volunteered his time with the Muskegon Civic Theatre and was very involved with NA and AA. Joel was a doting father who dearly loved his daughters, Julia, Emily, and Lauren. He is survived by his daughters, Julia, Emily, and Lauren Cook; his parents, Bill (Mary Jane) Cook of Norton Shores; sister, Jill Marie Cohee of Ferrysburg; stepsister, Heidi Steigman of Muskegon; stepbrother, Donald Steigman of Muskegon, and former spouse, Colleen (Fitzpatrick) Cook. Joel is preceded in death by his mother, Sharon K (Holcomb) Cook; his grandparents, James and Bernice Cook, Brenton “Red” and Myrtle Holcomb; several aunts and uncles; and cousins. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 4:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (495 S. Getty St.) with Rev. Father Matthew J. Barnum presiding. VISITATION with the family will be held one hour prior to Mass. Joel will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the ALANO Club (4613 Henry St., Muskegon, MI 49441) or The “Way Out” Transitional Living (3071 Second St., Twin Lake, MI 49457).
