Joel J. Maitner's Obituary
Joel J. Maitner, age 52, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, November 7, 2025. He was born April 14, 1973, in Ludington, MI, to Frank and Kathy (Corgan) Maitner. Joel graduated from Mona Shores High School in 1992 and spent most of his life working as a machine operator. He was known for his huge heart and his willingness to help anyone in need. A devoted Detroit sports fan, Joel could recite sports statistics and rock and roll lyrics with ease. He loved spending time with his family—especially his nieces and nephews—always cheering them on as their biggest supporter. Joel is survived by three brothers, David (Michelle) Maitner, Robert (Regina) Maitner, and Brendan (Sarah) Murphy; cousin, Andrew (Crystal) Miller; nieces and nephews, Zack and Kyle Maitner, Eliza and Makayla Maitner, Leone and Willow Miller, Charlotte and Finnegan Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Joel’s Life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 22, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S.
