John A. Aerts' Obituary
Mr. John A. “Jack” Aerts, age 89, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the Poppen Residence. He was born on September 24, 1930 to Edward and Rose (Christian) Aerts in Hart, MI. Jack married the former Delores “Dolly” Hawkinson on May 19, 1956 and she preceded him in death on May 26, 2000. Jack proudly served his country while in the United States Army from 1951-1953. He enjoyed spending his time fishing, gambling, playing cribbage and joking with the helpful staff at Sanctuary at the Oaks. Jack retired from Continental Motors after 35 years and stayed busy creating pieces of yard art out of wood. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and ushered for several years. Jack is survived by his brother, Louis (Joan) Aerts; sister, Betty Ann Zynda; sister-in-law, Lavonne “Butch” Hawkinson; son, Alan Aerts; grandson, Eric Aerts; several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Along with his wife Dolly, Jack was also preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene (Marilyn) Aerts, David Aerts; Richard (Lumina) Aerts; brother-in-law, Ralph Zynda; and sister-in-law, Dorene Kruzel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11AM Thursday, March 12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM with the Rosary prayed at 10AM.
