John W. Arbogast Sr.'s Obituary
John Wayne Arbogast Sr, age 79, passed away on March 13, 2024, surrounded by his family at his home in Muskegon, MI. John was born in Grand Haven, MI, on September 8, 1944, to Charles and Gertrude (Bray) Arbogast Jr. He graduated from Grand Haven High School and then attended Liberty University. On June 19, 1965, he married the former Joanne Mars, and the two of them spent 58 wonderful years together. John worked a variety of jobs in his life, including as a sheet metal worker at Bastian Blessing and as a Security Guard at Dr. Jerry Falwell’s home in Lynchburg, but spent most of his career as a minister. He ministered at Liberty Baptist in Alta Vista, VA, as well as Munising Baptist in Munising, MI. He enjoyed the sport of softball; in his younger years the team that he pitched for won the Class A Softball Michigan State Championship, and later in his life he worked as the pitching coach at Liberty University. He was an avid fisherman, he loved spending time with his horses and his cat, and he enjoyed spending winters with his wife in Port Charlotte, FL. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joanne Arbogast; son, John (Tammy) Jr; two grandchildren, April (Sam) Lam and Anthony Arbogast; two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Alice; and many nieces and nephews.
