John B. Dornbos' Obituary
Mr. John B. Dornbos, age 85, died Saturday evening, April 23, 2016, at Mercy Hospital, following a brief stay. He was born December 15, 1930 to Bernard and Maude (Sisco) Dornbos and had been a life resident of the area. John was a co-owner of Holiday Foods, and retired from there in 1988. Previously he had been employed at A & P Tea Company for 28 years. He was member of Fifth Reformed Church; and enjoyed woodworking and photography. On June 10, 1950 he married the former Lois Bodenberg; and she survives him along with four children, Gayle (Robert) Mandigo and children Paul (Joni), Ryan and Caitlin, Debra (Daniel) Mellema and children Stacey (Mark) McCord and Sara (August) Christian, Gordon (Jane) Dornbos and children Nicole and Jordon, and Lori (Robert) Leonard and daughter Tammi; several great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters-in-law. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at Fifth Reformed Church (2330 Holton Rd., Muskegon, MI 49445) with the Rev. Scott Lokers officiating. VISITATION with John’s family will be one-hour prior to the service. For a more lasting memorial you are asked to consider the Building Fund of Fifth Reformed Church.
