John Wesley Burks, Jr., age 57, passed away at home on October 13, 2022. John was born on May 9, 1965 to J. W. Burks, Sr. and Aletta Burks in Muskegon, Michigan. John spent his entire life in Muskegon, attending E. Grace Loftis Elementary School, Muskegon Heights Middle School, Nelson Junior High, and Muskegon High School. During his life he held various forms of employment. John enjoyed hanging out with family and friends, but he is best known for riding his bike around town. John is survived by his only son, Jalen D. Burks, his mother; Aletta Burks, his grandmother, Mamie Sutton; his siblings, Dollicia Burks, Rodney (Michelle) Burks, Mahdi Mubashshir, Gelon Burks, Netria Starr, Marteceia Burks, and Shaletta Burks; as well as his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, J. W. Burks, Sr., and his grandmother Lorraine Burks. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be taking place on Friday, October 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 E. Apple Ave, Muskegon, MI, 49442.
