John E. Carlson's Obituary
John E. Carlson, age 76, of Fruitport, MI passed away June 15, 2020 at American House in Spring Lake. John was a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in music composition. His degree took him to the University of Dayton where he taught music composition. He left Dayton and devoted his life caring for his parents and aunt. In his younger years, John enjoyed sailing, piloting his plane with his father, and traveling. He was an avid collector of wind up phonographs and was well known for his ability to restore them. He enjoyed frequenting estate sales and garage sales. Along the way, John met many friends with whom he enjoyed having a cup of coffee and conversation. As per John’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. In his honor, donation may be made to the Susan Mast ALS Foundation (www.susanmastalsfoundation.org) or Hospice of Michigan (www.hom.org).
