Mr. John W. Carlyle's Obituary
Mr. John Wesley Carlyle, age 77, passed away Thursday afternoon, September 25, 2014 at his home in Norton Shores. He was born on April 19, 1937 to John K. and Geneva (White) Carlyle. John was a member of the Local #100 Carpenters Union and had worked for several construction companies as well as being self-employed. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and his passion was flying his Cessna 17oB. John was a skilled woodworker, enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. On September 15, 1956, John married the former Anna Marie Hagstrom and she preceded him in death on March 21, 2013. He is survived by six children, Joyce (Kurt) Carlyle-Swartz, John M. (Debra) Carlyle, Mary Carlyle, and Mark Carlyle all of Norton Shores, Jeanne (Kerry) Vezino and Matthew (Sarah) Carlyle both of Fruitport; five grandchildren, Jenna Swartz, Taylor, Jordyn and Bryce Carlyle, and Jennifer Egeler; one brother, Roger (Nancy) Carlyle and a special cousin, Jim (Evelyn) Hammond. A CELEBRATION of John’s Life will be held from 2-5 PM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at The Lee Chapel. MEMORIALS in John’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Harbor Hospice.
