John D Chilson's Obituary
John D Chilson, age 91, passed away on April 6, 2024, in Grand Haven, MI. He was born on January 13, 1933, to John and Margaret (Grennay) Chilson, in Flint, MI. John served his country in the United States Army and while stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany, met a young woman, Gisela Meyer. They were married on January 22, 1955, in Germany, and were able to spend 69 wonderful years together. John worked for General Motors for 33 years and after retirement, he and Gisela moved up to Rapid City, MI. He enjoyed hunting, was an avid fisherman and loved to play euchre. John loved being with his family and friends and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
John will be dearly missed by his wife, Gisela; sons, Gerald (Diana) Chilson and Glenn (Dena) Chilson; grandchildren, Candy, Julie, Jerry Jr., Dustin, and Nicolas; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jerry III (Jay), Jacob, Joshua, and Haley and Addison. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Shirley Chilson; and brothers, Donald Chilson and Dan Brabbs.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at a later date in Rapid City, MI. In lieu of flowers, MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS in honor of John may be directed to the Kalkaska County Animal Shelter.
