John M. Crandall's Obituary
Mr. John M. Crandall, age 75, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 in Grand Rapids. He was born on May, 15, 1941 in Muskegon to Russell and Mary (Stefula) Crandall and was a lifelong resident of the area. Following graduation from Muskegon Heights High School in 1959, he entered the Navy and had served on the U.S.S. Independence off the coast of Vietnam. John married Barbara South on January 8, 1966 and they were married for over 50 years. He worked at Howmet as a Supervisor prior to retiring and together he and Barb attended Samuel Lutheran Church. John was a life member of VFW #3195 and was an avid hunter and fisherman. “Big John” was also an avid fan of M.S.U. Football and Basketball. He and Barb enjoyed tailgating and he was well known for his Bloody Mary’s. SURVIVORS include his loving wife, Barb of 50 years; children Matt (Stephanie Kurdzweil) Crandall and Jennifer (Jay) Nickels; 6 grandchildren, Vince (Celeste), Matthew (Jessica), Breann, Jaxon, Jaren and Steven; 4 great- grandchildren and his brother, Clair (Shirley) Crandall. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at VFW Post #3195, 5209 Grand Haven Road, Norton Shores. Arrangements are being handled by The Lee Chapel, 6291 S.
