John E. Crosby's Obituary
John E. Crosby, age 88, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 21, 2023. He was born January 30, 1935, in Columbus, Mississippi to Lee and Edna (Tripplet) Crosby. John graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and following graduation enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving his country in the Korean War. He married the former Mary Campbell at Spring Street Baptist Church in Muskegon, and she preceded him in death on November 6, 2005. John worked for the U.S. Post Office in Muskegon for over 20 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Greater Harvest Baptist Church, loved singing, playing his guitar and traveling. He also enjoyed working in his yard. John received many beautification awards for his hard work. John is survived by his daughter, Vanessa (Ronnie Heard) Crosby of Grand Rapids, MI; two brothers: Rickie Crosby of Holland, MI and Bobby Perkins of Bessemer, Alabama; three sisters: Brenda Cowherd of Muskegon, MI, Betty Jean Bailey of Bessemer, Alabama, and Louise Pryor of Bessemer, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ernestine Mitchell. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2188 Remembrance Dr., Muskegon, MI 49442.
