John Van Deitz's Obituary
John Van Deitz, age 83, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018. He was born on May 18, 1934 to Louis and Elizabeth (Vanderstelt) Deitz in Muskegon, Michigan. He was one of seven children. He was married in Muskegon on January 21, 1956 to the former Eugenia M. Corpe. John was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Fruitport. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with family and friends. John is survived by: his spouse, Eugenia M. (Corpe) Deitz; his children, Betty (Regis) Eller, Mary Cross Bunker and Vanessa (Gary) Fletcher. His grandchildren: Danielle (Peter) Smedley, Elizabeth Eller, Benjamin (Suzanne) Eller, Michael Eller, Jerrad (Molly) Fletcher, Jessica Fletcher, Jordan Fletcher, Janalyce Fletcher. His great-grandchildren: Willow, River and Serenity Kettler, William and Morgan Franklin, Olivia, Emma and Abigail Eller and Alan Fletcher and sister-in-law Judy (Cecil) Scott. He was preceded in death by sisters: Betty Hutchinson, Leona Smith, Arlene Harmsen-Hendrickson, Margaret Sikkenga and brothers: Robert and Louis (Bill) Deitz and sister-in-law Wanda Gregg. John was employed for nearly 30 years as a long-haul truck driver at the former Browne - Morse Office and Laboratory Furniture Manufacture. He also worked at Keur Industries and Grand Haven Stamp Products before his retirement. A FUNERAL SERVICE for John will take place on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100) at 11:00 AM with visitation an hour prior to the service. Donations in John’s name can be made to the family to help offset the cost of the funeral.
